Once a student accidentally put an IC on the bottom of the PCB and no matter what we all tried we just could not get it to move to the top - which was important as we only made single sided PCBs in-house. It did take me about 10 years to learn how to use Proteus and even at the end it would still do things that I could not understand, or prevent, or even repeat. I preferred EasyPCB, I wonder if this is still going, but I was not the decision maker. Fortunately the owners of Proteus used to give us about 100 free student licences every year, probably as we spent a fortune on renewing the licence every year, but these only lasted a year. I was always telling my students not to use these as it was basically illegal and also against University policy (to use any unlicensed software).
